Humor in the mind of a nine year old

Posted by: MidwestMom   in ADHD, Children, Entertaining, Family, Family Life

Recently while shopping for laundry detergent, My son who is nine who likes to read everything he sees out loud, Well to my misfortune he saw  two products that caught his attention and proceeded to announce them out loud, now mind you they are meant for laundry purposes only, The two that he discovered are  Washer Balls and Dryer Balls, Now to a nine year old boy he thought this was just hilarious and some where in his boyish mind some thing clicked and to him he thought  he had discovered  the most funniest thing he had ever seen.. So he proceeded  to repeat these products over and over  out loud in the store “Washer Balls” and then “Dryer Balls” now if you did not know what he was talking about which most people in the store did not  have any clue, expect to get odd looks and we sure did, One Lady even made a comment “Little boys should not be talking that way” I explained to her that they are a product in the laundry aisle .She just rolled her eyes and proceeded to walk away.. So for the next few days no matter where we were  he would  continue this  over and over again to the point where I had to tell him in a growling voice to STOP!!!, He did not quite understand what was so wrong with it, I had to explain to him though there was nothing wrong  just people were just getting the wrong impression. First let me explain something my nine year old son has ADHD and O.D.D. though he may be nine he is just a little behind in his thinking process of that of another nine year old child.. When I had thought that this was over and the Funny of it was gone, Well I was wrong we were in an elevator with about three other adults and their kids and it started up again, and to make matters worse His five year old sister started chiming in as well..the other kids in the elevator started laughing and repeating what my children were saying “Washer Balls” then “Dryer Balls” Oh great here we go again,, I had to turn away from the other adults trying to hide my laughter.. Actually it was kind of funny. But one thing I have learned is  never underestimate the mind of a child..I hope you all get a good laugh from this..Enjoy your day..31t7fZFtD L._SL500_SS100_

I remember once when I was really young (maybe 6), I wanted to come up with my own super hero. So I tried to think of the strongest thing I knew. I thought that anchors must be pretty strong, since they have to hold those giant ships in place, plus they're made of steel, like Superman. The only problem was I didn't know the word for “anchor”. I knew they had hook-like protrusions, so I decided to call myself “Super Hooker” over and over again. Needless to say my mom was embarrassed to no end. True story.

Lonnie, Thanks for sharing that is just too funny..I laughed so hard when I read that I almost lost my soda that I was drinking :-) , When I was around 3 or 4 My mom and her friends were having a yard sale, at that age I did not quite master wiping my behind yet so I went outside with my pants down and told my mom “wipe my butt” and bent over to show her. She still talks about it at times..
